My AO3 name is EllieMurasaki, though if you can, gift the fic to my pseud AlexSeanchai.
First, a bit about what I like: Ladies being awesome. Bechdel passing. People of color being awesome. Nonbinary characters being awesome. Femslash, het, slash, poly, gen. Porn, pornless shippy fic, gen. (Obviously I am not asking you to provide all my likes at once.) Competence kink. Nonperfect people having nonperfect relationships (whether familial, platonic, romantic, or sexual) but all parties are good people trying to make the relationship work as best they know how. Ordinary people caught in extraordinary events. Worldbuilding! If you're leaning porny: bondage
, body modification
, nipple play
(okay, really breast play, but kink_wiki
doesn't have a tag for that), sensation play
, temperature play
, impact play
with the emphasis on play
, toys toys toys
, soft sensuous things
, and writing
. And if you're leaning porny but not sure who to lean porny with, I like femslash best.
Things I dislike: Underage. Non-con. Anything sexy involving eating or excreting (though if you want to write food porn in the sense of conveying what a tasty meal the characters are having, go to town). Disrespectful treatment of [insert marginalized group here]. Cross-generational sexual and/or romantic relationships, though if an involved character does not, in my head, have an age, then it won't bother me as long as all the involved characters are clearly adult. I can't really explain any better than that; this makes about as much sense to me as it does to you. Sorry about that.
Specifics:Abraham's Daughter - Arcade Fire (Song)
"Just as he saw her, raised for the slaughter, Abraham's daughter raised her bow. 'How darest you, child, defy your father?' 'You'd better let young Isaac go!'"
The Akedah—however one interprets it—was pivotal
in the development of the Abrahamic religions. How did that development change
given that Abraham's nameless daughter (ffs what did her mother
call her? what did she call herself?) intervened? Come to that, is the daughter Rule 63 Ishmael or is Ishmael a sibling of hers, and if the latter, who is
her mother, Hagar or Sarah?Downhome Aphrodite - Seanan McGuire (Song)
"She was a down-home Aphrodite with the starlight in her hair
And the minute that I saw her, lord, I knew it wasn’t fair
And I said 'Darling...can I worship at your shrine?
Because I need your style, I need your grace,
I need to touch a holy place
I need to see a chance for me to make you mine.'"
Note that the singer is female. This is a lesbian love song and I do not want you to change that. Ms. Downhome Aphrodite, judging by the litany of goddesses she resembles in one aspect or another (though really, Artemis is the woods goddess, not Athena), is a complex character, and I want to see that complexity in both Ms. Aphrodite and the singer. I think the song has a modern-day setting, but I want the Greek and Roman deities to be a presence in the story—maybe it's set in ancient Greece, maybe it's a world not unlike Percy Jackson's, maybe Ms. Aphrodite and the singer are students of ancient Greek culture. I also want to see reference to Sappho.Fire in the Head - Sharon Knight (Song)
"To win the kiss of the gifted ones
We risk our lives on the mountain front
There’s some wake mad, and some wake dead
And some will rise with a fire in their head"Pertinent background information.
Tell me about one of the poets who risks everything to become, at least in her own eyes, a real poet.Shee An Gannon - The CRAIC (Song)
"Without a word myself I turned
The druids' land progressed
To seek the sword of purest light
And find the cloak of darkness
The stone of strength I sought as well
For strength I'll need for fighting
With these three I rode to the sea
I am the Shee An Gannon!
This song sounds like a blend of the Shee An Gannon story from Joseph Jacobs and the Perseus and Andromeda story, with a good strong drum rhythm behind it. I want more of the story. What did the princess think of all this?Snow White Red Road - Cheshire Moon (Song)
"Can it be a princess when she’s living?
Can it be a queen when she’s dead?
But in between she’s just a girl
There’s no such thing as just a girl"
This song is such a fascinating exploration of Snow White, who's clearly as much of a witch as her (step?)mother. Show me more of that.Viva La Vida - Coldplay
"I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
'Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!'"
in this king's reign? How did he go from ruler of a kingdom (if not an empire!) to sweeping the streets? And, hey, look at the title. 'Live the life'. That's pertinent somehow, right? :)
