Hi there! My AO3 name is [personal profile] AlexSeanchai, and let me assure you at the jump that optional details are optional. If you had a story in mind when you offered these characters, go for it.

I should also advise you up front that I am a Hellenic polytheist, ancestor worshipper, and animist, and I am really hoping to see, anywhere it might come up, respect for my religious beliefs. This is relevant to at least four of my six requests. This hope is an optional detail, but I want to highlight the DNW of "Disrespect to my religious beliefs". (As you might thus guess, I am not really looking for a Christmas story!)

Hey, you know what, what the hell. If you want to write me interactive fiction for Tarot or Neolithic Sites, that would be grand fun!

Likes: FEMSLASH. GEN. Ladies being awesome. People of color being awesome. Queer people being awesome. Trans and genderqueer people being awesome. People of minority religions (especially polytheists, ancestor worshippers, and animists) being awesome. Disabled people being awesome. Competence kink. Nonperfect people having nonperfect relationships (whether familial, platonic, romantic, or sexual) but all parties are good people trying to make the relationship work as best they know how. Ordinary people caught in extraordinary events. Worldbuilding! If you're leaning porny: bondage, body modification, endurance, nipple play (okay, really breast play, but [community profile] kink_wiki doesn't have a tag for that), sensation play, temperature play, impact play with the emphasis on play, toys toys toys, soft sensuous things, and writing.

Dislikes: Underage. Non-con. Anything that sets off my embarrassment squick. Anything sexy involving eating or excreting (though if you want to write food porn in the sense of conveying what a tasty meal the characters are having, go to town). Disrespectful treatment of polytheism, ancestor worship, and/or animism. Disrespectful treatment of [insert marginalized group here]. Cross-generational sexual and/or romantic relationships, though if an involved character does not, in my head, have an age, then it won't bother me as long as all the involved characters are clearly adult. (This last is probably only relevant, given these requests, with regards to Neolithic Sites. If that.)

Downhome Aphrodite - Seanan McGuire (Song)
canon link (that's a fanvid; pay no attention to the visuals, you're here for the music), lyrics, acquisition via CD Baby
Singer (Downhome Aphrodite); Downhome Aphrodite (Downhome Aphrodite)

FEMSLASHY LOVE STORY :)

If one or both of the characters are present-day Hellenic polytheists, that would rock. But if you are not up to that, don't worry about it: I will be very happy with any (f/f, please, though I don't particularly care whether cis, trans, or genderqueer f's there) story in which Singer falls fast and hard for Downhome Aphrodite and DA is kind of a cynic about the whole concept but finds herself falling slowly for Singer. And they both know Greek mythology inside out and backwards! (Though Venus and Vulcan are, of course, Roman.)

Or really anything that expands upon canon will be lovely.

Every Heart a Doorway - Seanan McGuire
acquisition via Amazon
Nancy Whitman; Kade Bronson; Sumi (Every Heart A Doorway)

This is an OR request, though if you want to write any two or three of the three having adventures set at the school in the interstices of canon I am certainly up for that. I want to see Nancy in the underworld. Kade in Prism. Sumi and her candy corn farmer! Elaborate on what canon has told us about the-character-of-your-choice's past in their Otherworld, and I will be overjoyed.

The Iliad - Homer
various translations on Project Gutenberg or acquire your favorite translation from your favorite bookstore
Helen of Troy (The Iliad)

You know, the whole apple deal and Paris choosing Aphrodite really screwed Helen over. Helen didn't consent to being the prize in this game!

Did Helen ever find herself missing Menelaus and Hermione and simply being Helen of Sparta instead of Helen of Troy? Perhaps Hecuba and Andromache were comforting company?

I'm also wondering by what standard Helen was the most beautiful woman in the world. (I'm a women's studies major. I have Opinions about beauty standards.) Did she ever think another woman (perhaps Hecuba or Andromache!) was more beautiful, at least in some respect, than she was herself?

What was Helen's religious life like during canon?

(I should maybe warn you I haven't read the Iliad in a long time, and I have consumed assorted things spinning off the Iliad a lot more recently, so what is in my head as canon may not be what's actually on the page as canon. Please try not to worry about this.)

Neolithic Sites of Southern England (Anthropomorphic)
Avebury on Wiki, Stonehenge on Wiki, Wayland's Smithy on Wiki, West Kennet Long Barrow on Wiki as starting points for research
no characters specifically requested. nominated characters: Avebury (Henge); Stonehenge (Henge); Waylands Smithy (Barrow); West Kennet Long Barrow (Barrow)

When you decided you might be able to write for this canon, you probably had a story in mind. Or at least the seed of one. Plant that seed. I am curious what sort of tree it will be.

(I am sorry I do not have any prompts. I promise I will be delighted by your story, however it plays out. It's just that I am intrigued by the intersection of these holy sites and the concept of anthropomorphic, but also a total newbie to anthropomorphic.)

(Also I have Spiral Dance's "Wayland's Steel" in my head. Probably next up on the mental jukebox, Kellianna's "Avebury", "Stonehenge", and "Sacred Stones of Stonehenge", and, for West Kennet Long Barrow, "Ancestor's Song", also by Kellianna, and Sharon Knight and T. Thorn Coyle's "Ancestor Chant", "Beyond the Gates", and "Prayer for the Dead". Spiral Dance lyrics, Kellianna lyrics, Knight and Coyle lyrics. Don't mind me, unless you want to use these as prompts.)

Tarot (Divination Cards)
Magician on learntarot.com, High Priestess on learntarot.com, Hierophant on learntarot.com, Strength on learntarot.com
Magician (Tarot Card); Hierophant (Tarot Card); High Priestess (Tarot Card); Strength (Tarot Card)

I am not sure whether you want to write these characters as consciously figures in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck (or, you know, whatever deck you like, though for reasonably obvious reasons the RWS is the one it's most likely you and I both know) or as people who happen to embody the archetypes these cards represent. I will be delighted by either story.

My original thought on choosing this canon to nominate was Magician/High Priestess and Hierophant/Strength. (Minus lion!) In both cases, I want to see each of the pair learning to appreciate and rely on the strengths of the other of the pair. Perhaps the Magician learning that sometimes one must step back and ask what the Gods want, and the High Priestess learning that sometimes one must step forward and act according to one's own will. Perhaps the Hierophant learning that sometimes patience works better than command, and perhaps Strength learning that sometimes community has advantages over solitariness.

But I will be perfectly happy with gen of pretty much any description featuring these four, or with shippy fic pairing any of these characters with any other. (Or, hell, puppy pile!) I don't have that many prompts in me, I'm sorry to say. I hope however that when you decided you might be able to write for this canon, you had a story idea in mind. Write that!

I would prefer that all four characters be women: cis, trans, or genderqueer, I really don't care. I would also prefer that the context, especially if you're writing people-who-embody-these-archetypes, be polytheistic.

You Belong With Me - University of Rochester Yellowjackets (Music Video)
canon link
Glasses Guy (You Belong With Me); Jock Guy (You Belong With Me)

I would love to see some post-canon here. Like, in the video they're self-evidently college students; how do they maintain a relationship with the wildly different schedules college course offerings tend to impose on people with different majors and interests? What about after graduation? What do they do then?

I would also love to see some things before or in the scene cuts of canon. Feel free to bring in Jock's [ex-]girlfriend here: canon seems to summarize a lot of time passing and history-of-friendship in the space of a few minutes, and I'd love to see any detail of that elaborated on. Case in point: why are Glasses and Jock trading notes on sketchpads instead of, idk, texting?

And what would really rock my socks is something—meeting one of the above prompts or a straight-up canon retelling—starring Glasses Girl and Jock Girl. (Cis, trans, genderqueer, mix and match, I don't care.)

M*A*S*H. Klinger. SAY NO MORE.

I want to work on Mom's Christmas present but she is in the room.

Yuletide progress: still nil words-wise. Part because I still have a fuckton of canon to review, part because...well, the scene I thought of writing just isn't very interesting to me. And that's not going to make a good fic, or probably any fic. But I have no other ideas and I know none of my recip's other canons and I do not want to default again.

Opening night went well!

Multiple people told me the thing that made my performance was the look of utter terror on my face! (This is actually legit given my character, but I was not trying to look afraid.)

I got a dozen nine roses and a vase to put them in! (From my parents, who neglected to remove the price tag and thus I know they only spent $3. Which perhaps explains why there were twelve stems, of which nine have flowers attached. There were two rose heads down in the plastic, though.)

I impressed Director Nancy!

...

Naturally my Yuletide assignment is the one of my offers that requires the most canon review.

First, a bit about what I like: Ladies being awesome. Bechdel passing. People of color being awesome. Queer people being awesome. Trans and nonbinary characters being awesome. Femslash, het, slash, poly, gen. Porn, pornless shippy fic, gen. (Obviously I am not asking you to provide all my likes at once.) Competence kink. Cross-generational sexual and/or romantic relationships, though if an involved character does not, in my head, have an age, then it won't bother me as long as all the involved characters are clearly adult. I will be happy with any of these fandoms—else I wouldn't have requested that fandom—and optional details are optional: mind the dislikes, please, but otherwise I'll be happy with anything you're happy writing.

Specifics:

Edally Academy - Lyn Thorne-Alder
Enerenarie (Edally Academy), Saydrie (Edally Academy), Tairiekie (Edally Academy)

Where you can find this canon: edallyacademy.com

These three characters come from such different worlds and, confined to the Academy as canon has been so far, we hardly get to see any of that except in the trying to make it work as a team. I would love to see more of the trying to make it work as a team, and I would also love to see a story outside the Academy setting where one of the three takes the other two home with them and we get to see their home culture.

House of Stone and Light - Dartmouth Decibelles (Song)
No characters nominated

Where you can find this canon: iTunes, Amazon MP3, Spotify

I feel like there's potential for two powerful stories here. Flip sides of a coin, really. One is an American woman going to Tibet to find herself or healing or something, or perhaps literally her soul (I must go there to find my soul yeah), and one is a Tibetan woman who Does Not Appreciate the Western tourism appropriation no-work-all-results gimme-gimme-gimme deal.

Time Travel Girl - Seanan McGuire (Song)
No characters nominated

Where you can find this canon: CDBaby

I wasn't the only one who thought about Chibiusa from Sailormoon when first hearing this song, was I? Show me the relationship between the time-travel girl and her parents, be it before, during, or after the time-travel incident. Or how the relationship between the girl's parents is affected by the girl's presence. I'm inclined to the belief that the girl's mom is a mad scientist here, and the girl's dad is one of the mom's minions, but the lyrics don't quite support that interpretation. I'm also interested in how the girl plans to take over the world with her parents' support.

Hellenistic Religion & Lore
Αθήνα | Athena

Where you can find this canon: many places (Hesiod, Homer, the Orphic Hymns, just to name a few) but theoi.com is a good starting point

I'm interested in modern interpretations. What if Athena's a trans woman—how does that affect the whole "Gaia prophesied that Zeus's first son by Metis would overthrow Zeus" storyline? What if she's a cis queer woman—does her vow of virginity apply only to heterocis sex (that is, sex possible-to-liable to result in pregnancy), or did she swear off sex entirely to get her folks to stop harassing her ace self about the subject? Maybe she's taking a year off the whole deity thing to work in a coffee shop or library or feminist activist nonprofit. Maybe she's chosen an oracle or spiritual leader or some such thing (this would of necessity be an original-to-you character) and the story is how your OC negotiates being this chosen person while dealing with the (generally hostile) world around her (or singular-or-plural them, or him if you insist).

Please note that for all I'm happy to treat Hesiod and Homer and all that body of work as just another canon to fanfic, I am a Hellenic polytheist, and respecting my gods while writing about them is essential.

Specifics:

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal | Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal
Chiba Mamoru | Tuxedo Kamen, Tsukino Usagi | Sailor Moon

Where you can find this canon: hulu.com or (I'm given to understand) Crunchyroll or somewhere else I forget. It is (as of 25 Oct 2014) eight twenty-minute episodes long, with new episodes alternate Saturdays.

Canon seems to like the 'he kisses her while she's unconscious' thing; this falls under 'non-con'. Though if you want to write a story where Usagi finds out about that and has a fit, that would be excellent. I'm also up for sweet fluffy romance; up to you whether it's set in the Moon Kingdom or in modern Japan.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon | Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (Live Action TV)
Aino Minako | Sailor Venus, Hino Rei | Sailor Mars, Kino Makoto | Sailor Jupiter, Mizuno Ami | Sailor Mercury

Where you can find this canon: I. um. ahem. It's lengthy. If you're pinch-hitting my request and need to review canon quickly, this is probably not the canon for you.

Teamfic! Or pick one of my character choices and explore how she changes over the course of the series. Or pick your favorite two and femslash the hell out of them.

Effluent Engine - N. K. Jemisin
Eugenie Rillieux, Jessaline Dumonde

Where you can find this canon: nkjemisin.com. It is about eleven thousand words long.

QUEER BROWN LADIES STEAMPUNK. And how, in Jemisin's alternate history, it kept Haiti free! And how it will, in the years immediately post-story, continue to keep Haiti free!

Killdeer - Anne B. Walsh
Duskdance, Elspeth Kolesar, Nightsinger, Suncrest | Kenneth Xiao

Where you can find this canon: Smashwords. Novel, short-story sequel, short-story sequel 2. The novel is about eighty-seven thousand words long; I don't have count on the short stories but the total length of canon is probably about 100K.

Found family and musical performance and cultural differences and and and and!

October Daye Series - Seanan McGuire
Amandine (Toby Daye), April O'Leary, Arden Windermere, Bridget Ames, Chelsea Ames, Dianda Lorden, Etienne (Toby Daye), Gillian Daye Marks, January O'Leary, Jasmine "Jazz" Patel, Karen Brown, Lily (Toby Daye), Li Qin Zhou, The Luidaeg (Toby Daye), May Daye, Quentin (Toby Daye), Raj (Toby Daye), Simon Torquill, Sylvester Torquill, Toby Daye, Tybalt (Toby Daye)

Where you can find this canon: Any reputable online bookseller. There are eight books and five shorter stories (six once Shattered Shields comes out) in the canon. I'm not sure whether this flash fic is canon, but McGuire wrote it so here it is. If you're pinch-hitting my request and need to review canon quickly, this is probably not the canon for you.

I requested Any Character. Please do not try to cram all these characters into one fic, unless you're writing a novel-length. I would adore a novel-length fanfic but I'm not going to insist you write one. I'm also not looking for any particular fic; I have included prompts for every character, but if I haven't hit on the combination you offered, feel free to come up with your own idea. I'd rather something cheerful and fluffy, but I like the tone of canon too, and canon is rarely either cheerful or fluffy.

Something showing echoes from Amandine to Toby (and May? and August? I realize August was not nommed) to Gillian would be excellent. So would something exploring the relationships between January and Li Qin and April, possibly with a side of Sylvester. Or something where Gillian meets the Luidaeg. Or May/Jazz and the whole thing where they're both death omens. Or Bridget and Chelsea and Etienne learning to be a family. Or Quentin and/or Raj making trouble for Toby, Tybalt, and/or Sylvester. Or Quentin and Raj getting to be friends with Chelsea. Or an AU where Gillian and Chelsea are besties and/or a couple. Or Amandine/Simon and what they loved about each other, and if you want to bring Sylvester and/or August Torquill in that'd be excellent. (I realize August was not nommed.) Or Arden being so much better a Queen than her predecessor, and how frightening that is. Or Dianda asking something of the Luidaeg, perhaps relating to Dianda's Roane or Selkie subjects. Or how Lily knew Amandine. Or Karen exploring her powers (possibly with a side of accidentally getting into Gillian's dreams and confusing poor Gillian to death). Or Toby and Tybalt getting married and subsequent sexytimes, or Toby and Tybalt pointing out hot guys to each other in a "if I didn't have you, I would totally fantasize about him" fashion. Or, if you think the math works (fae reproduction being famously difficult), Toby and Tybalt and baby, possibly with a side of Gillian.

Stars Fall Home (album) - Seanan McGuire
Earthquake Weather (song), Follow Me Down (song), In This Sea (song)

Where you can find this canon: McGuire's site has lyrics and a link to CDBaby. As far as I can tell none of the three songs are on YouTube.

This is an OR request.

Be advised that if you're writing "In This Sea" you probably want to be familiar with the October Daye books, because 'Liz' in the song is apparently Elizabeth from One Salt Sea and "In Sea-Salt Tears". If you've read those you can probably guess the singer's identity (hint: she's nominated under October Daye Series, and I point you at my prompts for her above), and if not I won't spoil you.

"Earthquake Weather" is a song about stories. I don't know a lot of the stories McGuire's referencing. Tell me those stories, or tell me new versions of those stories. Or write a story about authors (or songwriters or storytellers) and "guard your eggshell heart" and reference the rest of the lyrics here and there and I'll be happy.

"Follow Me Down" seems to me to be a song about destiny and vicious cycles. Break the cycle. Show the consequences of the breaking but also what's gained by the freedom.

This one I have to comment on: I took one look at [personal profile] seekingferret's DYW letter and went "...they want me to write that novel." I did not, obviously, write the novel, but I swear I'm going to! With appropriate filing off of serial numbers, mind—tentative title is Breath of Life.

Fandom: October Daye Series - Seanan McGuire

Relationships: May/Jazz
Characters: May Daye, Jazz (Toby Daye), Quentin (Toby Daye)
Summary:

May takes Quentin out for coffee to a lovely little place on Telegrave Avenue. Why there? No reason. Nope. Completely disinterested choice. They just do nice pastries is all. Yep. Uh huh. What junk shop? She certainly didn't invite Quentin along so he could carry her haul home. Not at all.

Set between An Artificial Night and Late Eclipses.

My main gift, and it is the BEST. Katie has characterization omg. And that's not even the best part. *squeesquee*

Now to dig through the avalanche that hit my inbox—holy shit, Slacktivist commentariat—and quick catch up on reading page, and then see how many more Yuletide stories I can read before I'm hauled out of my niche.

My father has declared a "no Internet till nine pm [Eastern]" day tomorrow. I plan to ignore this. But he might unplug the router. So if I don't comment in a timely fashion, that's probably why.

what is your opinion on new years resolutions.

They're excellent! It's always good to have that extra time to write a Yuletide treatfic—wait, that's not what you meant.

I think New Year's Resolutions are excellent if kept. The difficulty is of course in keeping them.
alexseanchai: Blue and purple lightning (Default)
My first fandom was Sailormoon. I remember inventing my own Outer Scouts before discovering—and I don't know how I discovered this—that it was a Japanese show and there was more to it than had aired in the US. I latched on to the Sailormoon Millennia Trilogy fanfic mostly, which I think may have been after we got S and SuperS in the States? Never did get Stars as far as I know, and SMMT has an alternate to Stars as well as a prequel and sequel to the series. My first published fanfic was fanfic of SMMT, and it died with Geocities, and while I know it still exists on the Wayback Machine, please do not go looking for it.

My second fandom was Harry Potter. I spent every free moment between bus arrival at my high school and the bell for homeroom in the library, saving fanfics to a floppy disk so I could read them in leisure at home. And I read the first five books dozens of times. I wasn't as impressed with the sixth, only read it maybe a half dozen times, and the seventh I think I've only read twice. Needless to say, it's been a while since I've been in that fandom, except for Anne Walsh's Dangerverse. I wrote some fanfic for that, too, which still exists on fanfiction.net.

My third fandom was Supernatural. Lots of y'all know me through Supernatural. This was also my first slash fandom. I got into it the summer before season five, saw Lazarus Rising on a rerun and got hooked, and I was so busy marathoning the first three seasons that I missed the reruns of episodes two and three of S4. (Also the rerun of the stripper episode, but I think that one just didn't reair.) And I was reading [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang as I went. I was a little confused that summer, but once I got it all straightened out in my head I had a blast. I still mean to finish the Epic Bechdel Fixit Project. That's gonna be entertaining, though...

I've had flings with other fandoms, Community, Lost Girl, [personal profile] synecdochic et al's Clan Mitchell Stargateverse, but they were never my fandom, you know?

I seem to be between fandoms at the moment. Unless we count Fairy Tales and Related Fandoms. Or Blow That Trumpet Gabriel, which really shouldn't count as a fandom for me because I'm the canon creator... I'm really enjoying this year's Yuletide fandom, but for obvious reasons I can't name it, and equally obviously there's not a whole lot out there for it.

I cannot write this fic in my Yuletide fandom for Yuletide. Not even as a treat for another requester of the fandom. The central character of the fic premise is not a nominated character. Fuuuuck.

ETA: And it's gonna be a fucking epic, too, isn't it.

So I was reconsuming Yuletide canon over lunch break, and I noticed a thing. And I want an explanation of the thing. But what with one thing and another I suspect we're never going to get the explanation. And I can't even flail properly because it's Yuletide canon so I can't name it in public, and I forget whether it's -filter or -security or something else to tell email post gizmo to lock this post to my Yuletide filter so I can't name it in private till I get home.

I just. What the hell, creator. What the hell, character.

I have more than forty tabs open to Yuletide letters I want to write treats for. One of them, the only appropriate response to the letter is a novel I want to write anyway.
alexseanchai: Blue and purple lightning (Default)
My AO3 name is EllieMurasaki.

First, a bit about what I like: Ladies being awesome. Bechdel passing. People of color being awesome. Nonbinary characters being awesome. Femslash, het, slash, poly, gen. Porn, pornless shippy fic, gen. (Obviously I am not asking you to provide all my likes at once.) Competence kink. And if you're leaning porny but not sure who to lean porny with, I like femslash best.

Things I dislike: Underage. Non-con. Anything sexy involving eating or excreting (though if you want to write food porn in the sense of conveying what a tasty meal the characters are having, go to town). Disrespectful treatment of [insert marginalized group here]. Cross-generational sexual and/or romantic relationships, though if an involved character does not, in my head, have an age, then it won't bother me as long as all the involved characters are clearly adult. I can't really explain any better than that; this makes about as much sense to me as it does to you. Sorry about that. (For purposes related to this request, fae stop having an age once they hit maturity, applicable to all fandoms containing fae—apparently I have a theme this year—and you're yanking some number of the Poetry RPF ladies from their natural habitats anyway so if you want to femslash them you might as well yank them at points such that they all end up the same age.)

Specifics:

Poetry RPF (nominated characters: Anne Bradstreet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Emily Dickinson, Sappho): femslash me, baby! Or gen me, as suits you. I just want to see how these ladies would interact. AU is excellent: coffee shop, college, library, faerie (did I mention a theme? though actually, come to think, a Poetry RPF/October Daye or Poetry RPF/Ember Days crossover would be a thing of beauty), etc. Just, y'know, don't make them not poets. I note that Bradstreet is widely considered an early feminist, Barrett Browning wrote many poems with social justice themes, Dickinson has been a great inspiration to feminists, and Sappho of course has been a great inspiration to lesbian feminists (see also [community profile] poetree's Sappho-themed week, especially the post by [personal profile] rainjoy).

Tales of Anosir - Anne B. Walsh: I will be happy with anything written in this universe. Things that particularly intrigue me about canon include the system of magic and the ethics of its use, the deities, and the echoes of fairy tales. I was a dipshit who did not nominate characters so I cannot prompt with characters, but I truly will be happy with anything about anybody here. (FYI: we're told there is more canon coming in her 2013 winter collection.)

Chronicles of Glenscar - Anne B. Walsh: I will be happy with anything written in this universe. Things that particularly intrigue me about canon include the system of magic and the ethics of its use, the feminist bent of so many of the characters (often feminist for 2013 as well as for 1786, which says something horribly sad about 2013, really), and the theme of names and what they mean—and who they mean, in that several of the characters feel themselves to be different people when going by different names. I was a dipshit who did not nominate characters so I cannot prompt with characters, but I truly will be happy with anything about anybody here. (FYI: there is also a Glenscar story linked here, in which there are fae I really do have a theme this year, and one in this collection, and we're told there'll be more canon coming in her 2013 winter collection.)

Ember Days (2013): I'd like to explore Hecate and Brand's relationship pre-movie, or Hecate post-movie, or the relationship between the Summer Lady and the Winter Queen at any point pre-, mid-, or post-movie. Or worldbuild! I will be absolutely delighted with worldbuilding that explains how angels and nephilim, Greek gods and Titans, and summer and winter fae all exist in the same world. And if you feel so inclined, worldbuilding that includes comparable stories from cultures of color would be awesome.

Faerie Queen - Heather Alexander (song): I will be happy with anything pertinent to the events of the song, whether before, during, or after. Feel free to play games with the gender of the fiddler and the spouse-to-be such that they end up gender/romantic/sexuality-diverse people. (Fascinating fact: Alexander James Adams—he's got a story about how he was taken to Faerie as a wee one and Heather Alexander is the changeling left in his place, but later in life they switched back—has a role in Ember Days.)

October Daye Series - Seanan McGuire: I'd like to explore any of the relationships between October, Amandine, the Luidaeg, May (and, of course, Jazz), Quentin, Raj, and Tybalt. Or worldbuild! I will be absolutely delighted with worldbuilding of any variety, particularly if it involves fae of color.

BEST YULETIDE EVER

I Could Find My Way Back (4185 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Florence + the Machine
Rating: Explicit
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Summary:

A heartbeat, a sense of direction, the moon sparkling off the fresh snow caught in the pine trees.

Finding appropriate words to feedback this with was such a struggle. I have no words. This author took them all. It's gorgeous. I'd said in my letter that "Cosmic Love" always seems femslashy to me and "Howl" could be too, and I complained some about depictions of werewolves, and my mystery author took all that and mixed it into this awesomeness.

Abstract Pleasures (2831 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Fallen London|Echo Bazaar
Rating: Mature
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Player/Quiet Deviless, Player/Affectionate Devil, Affectionate Devil/Player/Quiet Deviless
Characters: Player, Affectionate Devil, Quiet Deviless, Struggling Artist
Summary:

To whom will you give your soul?

EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED OMG

And my recip has three fics which all postdate my defaulting, so I'm thinking they're not gonna be too sad about being defaulted on. Phew.

And I have...forty more tabs of Yuletide open. Of which several are fandom tabs, not story tabs, because the fandom had more than two fics listed. Um.

ETA:

Scorch (2525 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Fallen London|Echo Bazaar
Rating: Mature
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: The Quiet Deviless/Player (Echo Bazaar)
Characters: The Quiet Deviless, Player (Echo Bazaar)
Summary:

The Quiet Deviless is extremely quiet on most occasions.

Dunno why this is rated Mature--it needs an Explicit. The whole sensuous experience is rendered in loving detail.

Wake Up and Find (25653 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 5/5
Fandom: You Belong With Me - University of Rochester Yellowjackets (Music Video)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Glasses Guy/Jock Guy
Characters: Glasses Guy (You Belong With Me), Jock Guy (You Belong With Me)
Summary:

By the third time that Danny wound up with a window or door directly across from Eli Gronkowski's, he had to wonder if the universe was trying to tell him something.

This is just canon writ large, and I love the canon, so. And the ex-girlfriend is not badly treated by the narrative at all, which is a pleasant contrast to canon.

Three Shades of Steele (11321 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: 50 Shades of Grey - E. L. James
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Anastasia Steele, Anastasia's Subconscious, Anastasia's Inner Goddess, Carla Adams, Kate Kavanagh, Christian Grey
Summary:

A jinn transforms Ana Steele's subconscious and inner goddess into living people. Permanently. That's the good news.

Haven't read Fifty Shades, but I've heard more than enough about them, and this fixes everything I've heard.

[personal profile] jjhunter is anon-love-meme-hosting again. My thread, which should be unscreened any time now is all unscreened now.

I defaulted on Yuletide. *cry* I think I can get it and spn_j2_xmas done over the weekend, which is in time for spn_j2_xmas posting deadline and Yuletide fic reveals, but not in time for Yuletide posting deadline. #yuletide assures me I am handling this well and responsibly. Ahahaha no.
alexseanchai: Claire and Emma with a heart (Emma/Claire heart)
To begin: I do not know which of my requests brought you here, and I am perfectly happy to tempt you into writing something we were not matched on, regardless of which fandom we matched on. Therefore, a bit on each of my requests:

fandom primers! )

Now, a bit about what I like: Ladies being awesome. Bechdel passing. People of color being awesome. Femslash, het, slash, poly, gen. Porn, pornless shippy fic, gen. (Obviously I am not asking you to provide all my likes at once.)

Things I dislike: Underage. Non-con. Disrespectful treatment of women and/or queer folk and/or people of color and/or people of religious beliefs other than Christianity. (That last, probably not relevant. Religion is not a factor in Cinderfella, and in Glenscar and Fallen London, everyone with identifiable religious beliefs is Christian, as is Florence of Florence + the Machine though of the nominated songs it is a factor only in Howl and then only barely. But I thought I'd mention it nonetheless.) Cross-generational sexual and/or romantic relationships, though if an involved character does not, in my head, have an age, then it won't bother me as long as all the involved characters are clearly adult. I can't really explain any better than that; this makes about as much sense to me as it does to you. Sorry about that. Anyway, in Glenscar everybody has ages, in Cinderfella everybody but the stepmother and godmother is about the same age, there's no age markers in any of the Lungs songs, and in Fallen London, well. Evidence from the Long-Lost Daughter storyline suggests the player is thirty years old or so, perhaps older but certainly no younger; the Quiet Deviless and Affectionate Devil are ageless.

and on to specifics! )

In conclusion: anything you write is likely to delight me. Write to please yourself as much as to please me, and thank you in advance!
alexseanchai: Blue and purple lightning (Default)
The Chronicles of Glenscar - Anne B. Walsh :
✔ Eleanor de Maine
✔ Grace Marlowe
✔ Shadow (The Chronicles of Glenscar)
✔ Isabel de Maine

CinderFella - Todrick Hall :
✔ Jasmine (Cinderfella)
✔ Alice (Cinderfella)
✔ Belle (Cinderfella)
✔ Ariel (Cinderfella)

Cabinet Noir :
✔ The Player (Cabinet Noir)
✔ Roxane (Cabinet Noir)
✔ Milon (Cabinet Noir)
✔ Bélon (Cabinet Noir)

And somebody else is nominating Cinderfella, chars Cinderfella himself, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Charming, and I don't know who else because ze was trying to decide between at least four people.
