My season one Supernatural Blu-rays refuse to be ripped in one-episode chunks. It's six episodes (except on the last disc where it's four) or nothing.

For vidding, I need a clip of particular dialogue from 1x22 Devil's Trap.

I ripped the Blu-ray with MakeMKV. (I paid for it, so I'm stuck with it. I hadn't realized Nero Video doesn't take mkv.) I converted from mkv to mp4 with Avidemux. I chopped the back fourth off in Nero Video and exported that as wmv, that being the format that lets me keep the Blu-ray frame size when coming out of Nero Video.

The audio track on that wmv, the music and sound effects are loud and clear. The dialogue...um. Not so much.

Help?

(I can fix this for the moment by importing the perfectly functional dialogue from the copy I had of 1x22--the frames are far too small for Nero Video, which is why I'm going through all the rip-convert nonsense with all the episodes I need clips from for this vid, but I need to know what went wrong and how to make it not go wrong in future.)

ETA: I woke up with the realization that the mkv I fed Avidemux was fine and I hadn't checked the mp4 it spit out. The mp4 is not fine. I would say I found the problem except I had it converting another mkv to mp4 while I slept and that mp4 is fine. I'm reripping the disc, we'll see if that helps.
