I wish to signal-boost [personal profile] dingsi's Book Exchange Fair 2015. I have not yet decided whether I am participating.

Hekate on mediocrity, per magickfromscratch.com

Excellence requires sacrifice, discomfort, hard work.

Sometimes it seems like the only thing I am able or willing to work hard at is my paycheck job. (Too hard. See also, typing-induced repetitive strain injury.) That's not how I want to live. But time constraints, and various disability stuffs, and and and. But that goes right back to the above link and pull quote, doesn't it? I am choosing mediocrity because excellence is too HAAARD.

I should know better than to shy away from things because they're too hard.

My brain sucks. Permit me to demonstrate:

Brain: it hurts too much to type, guess you can't write today!

Me: tablet.

Brain: not practical for long stretches of writing!

Me: *writes six hundred words*

Brain: not novel words, nor even fiction words, therefore useless words!

Me: really?

Brain: well what do you plan to do with such a self-indulgent little essay?

Me: brain you are moving the goalposts SHUT UP.
