I'm pretty sure that Generation Kill is the one about soldiers in Afghanistan (or maybe Iraq).

Band of Brothers is about the WW2 paratrooper company. Richard Speight played one of supporting characters, which has led to some random plot bunnies about that character being Gabriel's Vessel, but to do it right would require *massive* amounts of research, considering every character in Band of Brothers was a real historical person.
