NY Times: Donald Trump Says He’d ‘Absolutely’ Require Muslims to Register

When asked how a system of registering Muslims would be carried out — whether, for instance, mosques would be where people could register — Mr. Trump said: “Different places. You sign up at different places. But it’s all about management. Our country has no management.’’

Asked later, as he signed autographs, how such a database would be different from Jews having to register in Nazi Germany, Mr. Trump repeatedly said, “You tell me,” until he stopped responding to the question.

So, for the record -- and I invite you all to keep me honest about this -- if this country actually _does_ get to the point of requiring Muslims to wear identifying tags (which, to be fair, I don't expect it will), please sign me up for one as well.

Because you know the next lot to get that particular barrel of shit will be at least one of the transgender folks (hi), the disabled folks (hi), the leftist folks (hi), and the Pagans and atheists (hi: I'm Pagan but there is certainly enough Internet record of me being an atheist). Possibly also the queer folks (hi). I may as well go down saying something about solidarity with other oppressed folks as go down saying nothing but that I am oppressed myself.

David points out in his own comments that this may just be white liberals being purely symbolic and wanting credit for taking on real risk, but, well. The Holocaust wasn't just about killing Jews. It was also about killing disabled folks, queer folks, and political dissidents. If we start the shit with Muslims that Hitler did with Jews, I am next in line.
