I grew up on fresh shrimp and fish. Dad liked to catch both. Shrimp Night at our house meant boiling up half a pound or even a pound of shrimp per person, setting the collander with all of that in the center of the table on the porch, giving everybody a bowl of melted butter with lemon juice, and a paper plate for shells. First time guests get a lesson in peeling shrimp. DIG IN. Goddamn delicious. I can't get good, sweet, Gulf Stream shrimp out here, it's all cold water Pacific crap. Not the same. So I never eat shrimp like that anymore. And Dad doesn't shrimp anymore, so I never get it when I visit, either.
