Also, I have concluded that all supposed hiccup cures (drinking water, drinking water from the far side of the cup, being startled, etc) are a consequence of some combination of the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy, the intermittent reward idea in behavioral psychology, coincidence, people believing anything they're told, and people trying to make other people look stupid.

Although, as for hiccup cures: yesterday, I had the hiccups, and used one of the lesser known cures--eating a spoonful of peanut butter--and it worked quite well for a while. They came back earlier in the day, but the cure had worked a couple months ago as well.

What really cracks me up is I got only 16% on BOTH the "How Democrat Are You?" and "How Republican Are You?" tests. This is pretty accurate, because I have major issues with both parties (though more with Republicans at the moment), but what amused me was that that score then assumed I was then "staunchly" the other, so I was told I was BOTH "staunchly conservative" and "staunchly liberal." ::g::
