I guess you haven't seen the movie. The same sequence that introduces Prince John as a character has Robin Hood and Little John dressing as gaudily garbed women—"fortunes forecast, lucky charms"—and robbing the shit out of Prince John and company.

I mean, we know they didn't give a shit about anachronisms when making the movie—helium balloons—but like.
