WIP meme time!

I only got one WIP, for queer_bigbang, but it's a doozy, so I'm giving you three snippets.

Grandmother Madeline looms over Emma. "We have no place in our ranks for a perpetual child!"

"I'm grown!" Emma protests. "I can fight!"

"But you will never be an adult!" Grandmother says, a sweeping gesture indicating a giant United States map with pushpins. Seattle, northwest Ohio, southeast Kansas, northwest Montana, southern New Jersey. There's no pattern to the Winchesters' movements. Emma will never find her father. "Look at yourself!" Grandmother says, and Emma is wearing the denim dress that hasn't fit in days. "You are a petulant, sniveling little child who will never be a warrior!"

"I will," Emma says. "Watch me."

"I have some advice for you, if you're willing to hear it," Barrowman says. "You're young. You're smart. You're pretty. Do something with your life that isn't going to turn you into an ugly corpse."

"My mom wanted me to be an investment banker," Emma says. She thinks of Aunt Charlene, of her people leaving her, and stifles a sob. "I'd rather hunt."

If he wants to imply that getting fucked is somehow shameful, well then he can just go get fucked himself.

WIP meme deux

I LIED. I have two WIPs. (I'm not used to having any.) So here, two snippets from my het_bigbang!

The fog machine is supposed to put out a nice steady level of fog that stays right around the ankles, which, in combination with the projector displaying a montage of stock footage of lightning, is supposed to evoke the thunderstorm marking the start of the show. The fog machine is not supposed to go 'puff puff puff FWOOMP' and cover the entire stage with fog. "Tamesha!" Jess hollers.

"I didn't do it," Tamesha hollers back from the fog machine controls.

"Fix it anyway! While we're waiting, let's try the Overture from the top!"

A few moments later, Jess interrupts Sarah's "A Thiarna dean trocaire, A Chriost dean trocaire" with "Kristen! Lights synced with music! The orchestra has the timing right! You don't!"

It's nearly an hour before Jess is satisfied with the tech on the Overture.

"Dean, go away," Jess says. "Far enough that I can pretend you're not listening."

"Why?" Dean asks.

"I have a secret," Jess says. "Family secret. Tradition is it only comes out when getting engaged, just to give the potential spouse time to turn tail and run before the vows are said. And don't take this the wrong way, but I have no intention of marrying you."

"How is this relevant to someone trying to kill you?" Sam asks.

"You'll see. Dean, go away."
