December Days 13: the things that are parts of my identity (
silveradept)
I blabbered at length about various aspects of my identity a month ago. So what I'll say instead, to nutshell that, is that "who I am" is very much tied up in "what I [want to] do" and "what I believe". In that order of priority.

December Days 19: best thing that has come into my life because college (
nenya_kanadka)
My job. Hands down. I got it (casual/seasonal edition) because I was studying for my paralegal associate's at the local community college and my major advisor sent out an email to her students saying here's this job opening. And I sent in my resume and they liked me enough to hire me. I didn't know at the time that it was actually a temporary job, but by the time the person I was hired to take up the slack for came back, they liked me enough to keep me on, just in a different section. And then a merit position on night shift opened and they liked me well enough by then to hire me for that, et voila.
Be nice if HR would get on with promoting me, though, because three of the people who got the promotion training along with me got promoted months ago, and by all accounts I'm as good a worker as all three of them put together. And I'm afraid my paperwork's stuck on somebody's desk somewhere and that they're going to start me on the higher pay rate on the first pay period after the final signature of approval goes on the papers, which would mean HR's delay penalizes me unfairly. (I got my performance review yesterday and I am assured the promotion is in process. We just have no way of knowing where in the process it is, or how long it will take to get through.)
