so this week's Critical Reviewing discussion, we had to pick a TV series to talk about

In conclusion, I do not believe it's accurate to sum up Supernatural as just a show about "straight cis white Christian guys."

Well, nominally straight and distinctly heterodox Christian guys, anyhow. (Can't argue with the whiteness, though . . . if you want a horror/fantasy TV series with serious PoC representation, Sleepy Hollow is the way to go.)

As [personal profile] jelazakazone said, that may be why I've never been interested in it. It's just... never appealed to me as a Thing, even though I know loads of people who love it.

hahaha. oh man. With Supernatural and all those other shows, you can argue that they do that premise well or poorly—and maybe, maybe that they're also doing something else—but you absolutely cannot argue that it's not the main thing that they're doing.
