I added an OTC pain cream to my arsenal. Australian Dream--different active ingredient than any of the Bengay. Let's hope it helps.

My stomach is upset and beginning to hurt again. :(

ETA: and now my head hurts.

I don't know if you have any patience for advice. If not, I apologize. I found that none of the topical irritants helped my hands, even though they're effective for an awful lot of people. Topical nsaids actually did help me. They're not supposed to have systemic effects, so they might not mess with your stomach as much as just swallowing more naproxen. Unfortunately, I found I did get some systemic effects, especially when I used the gel on both hands and my shoulder. But that's apparently rare. And if I only used it on one hand, I was ok even so.
