The fuck happened yesterday? I'm still on the oxycodone, so while I saw a bunch of things on Facebook, I didn't process shit. I think I saw something about ~~Kenya~~ Baghdad terrorist attacks, something about Beirut terrorist attacks, several somethings about Paris terrorist attacks (and the racist and Islamophobic reaction to same), and an earthquake in Japan? Am I missing anything? (ETA: yes, apparently the Kenya link was months old and there were attacks in Baghdad)

My thoughts and prayers go with all these Dead, all the injured, and all their families. And I pray as well that we, collectively, round the world, respond to all this with as little anger, fear, and hostility and as much aid to those suffering as we can muster.

Elani Temperance's "Prayer for Paris", which I extend to include all yesterday's attacks, not just those in Paris:

May Hermes Psychopompos carry the souls of the dead safely cross the river Styx.
May Hades accept them favourably, and may the judges judge them fairly.
May Asklēpiós tend to the wounds of the injured.
May Ares instil in them the passion of life, and the strength of a thousand warriors.

May He look favourably upon those who ran away as well, as the will to live is at the core of every mortal's life.
To all Theoi: a last plea. To protect those whom the media will persecute, but are innocent of the crime.
To protect the innocent scapegoat from the actions of a species in the grips of fear and revenge.
