I need to read the rest of Louise Erdrich's The Round House (PSA: trigger warning for offscreen violent rape and attempted murder and onscreen aftermath thereof, and also a teenage boy being a creep in first-person PoV, and that's just in the first fifty pages) and write a five-page paper analyzing a character from it. But it is so much more fun to surf Amazon and figure out what I'm getting the lady whose ornament I grabbed off the Be a Santa to a Senior tree at the library.

I keep looking at her books and thinking about reading them and nope-ing out. I find book-trauma harder than screen-trauma, somehow. Also...I just...yeah. My brain keeps going YES I KNOW COLONIALISM AND THE PATRIARCHY ARE HORRIBLE and I don't feel like there are enough nuggets of good-feels in them for me to be not completely drained by reading her writing? *sigh*

Yeah, that is the impression I got from the first fifty pages.

But I still have to write six pages on the novel, having read the whole thing. :( (Above post lies. It's six to eight, not five to seven like I thought it was.)

I was supposed to read "The Jungle" for an anthropology class. I might have gotten a hundred pages in, and I just...couldn't. For self-care I used sparknotes. One of the only times I have done so, but I was really glad I did and I 1000% endorse this strategy when done for self-care purposes if it is what you need to do to get by.

It's Saturday, the paper's due Monday, I think I have a better chance at success if I read the book I have than if I go looking for the sparknotes I don't have.

Okay, self, here's the deal. Read for 15 min, watch the next episode of Sailor Moon. (Ep 3 of Crystal dub should be up now—it should have been up last night.) Read for 15 min, watch the next episode of Sailor Moon. (Either Crystal 4 in sub or Classic 32 in dub.) Keep going until the book is DONE even if it takes till four in the morning. (Shouldn't, because it's only a 300-page book.)
