Bunny: Sailor Moon–esque story, except—plot twist—instead of the Moon Princess–equivalent and her lot being the unequivocal good guys...
But one by one they clue in, for reasons relating to how their human identities have a whole stack of marginalizations between them and the Queen–equivalent starts looking a lot like an oppressor (spoiler: she is), and the end of the story is the Princess–equivalent and her lot (in coalition with their historical enemies) defeating the Queen–equivalent and then putting the magic sticks down. (Mostly. Because that sort of power could be real useful in countering abuse of power by more ordinary oppressors.)
