I've now asked my brother-in-law the computer geek (though who knows when he'll see the question) how much it will cost me to replace this fucking desktop. (He's already advised me that it'll be a lot cheaper for him to build me one than for me to buy one off the shelf. I assume that's mostly because his labor on this task will be valued in some other coin. Probably I'll end up making him food by way of payment.) I do not want to replace this fucking desktop, but as you can probably guess from the tone of the adjective, I am most displeased with it. I am however curious how badly I cannot afford to replace this fucking desktop.
Window shopping
Check out what it will cost to build your current machine, or just one step better. For myself, $400 is about the most we can spend to replace a dying machine, but it also tends to be several steps ahead of that machine in terms of speed and memory.
