Aisle 13 by Justina Ireland, posted on
hanginggardenstories, is made of awesome and win. It's a D&D type setting with explicit attention to social justice and a beautifully drawn teenage protagonist. Who I think may be genderqueer: she's referred to as 'Caitlyn' and 'she' throughout, but she also uses the phrase "I present as a girl" and she wonders in so many words if another character is genderqueer.
I don't know as I'd want to read a whole novel with this setting and protagonist, but damn, this short story is marvelous.
