00:50: Downloading Windows 10 to desktop. (Started that at 00:35.) Fucking 3GB download keeps erroring out. Unknown Error. Fortunately it doesn't lose its progress, so if I just hit Try Again often enough, it should get there eventually.
01:10: 99% and error out again? Seriously? Okay, ONE more Try Again...oh good. Preparing update for installation now.
Not incidentally, internetting on my laptop from my desktop chair is Not Best Practice.
01:25: Still preparing for installation. Green bar hasn't twitched a pixel in minutes. I think this bodes ill. And I am out of spoons, and laptop (which literally demanded restart for updates last night) is demanding restart for updates again. Oh, I see, one of those updates is the Win10 pushything which I already installed on laptop and then took back off again because this laptop has enough fun trying to run Win7. (It has a sticker says Vista.) And the other one is the doubly pushything. *unchecks*
I suspect this is going to end poorly, but: I am going to bed.
10:35: Nothing went catastrophically wrong overnight. Good. Restarting desktop for purposes of configuring update now.
10:45: Okay, we are into the actual upgrade stage. I am going to real quick put my coffee in the freezer to cool to proper iced coffee temperature, then rush through a shower, because I have my priorities in order.
Also I ordered a new phone, because the one I got has pissed me off for the LAST TIME. (I meant to wait till I had overtime money in hand for this, but. That might take weeks.)
11:15: It's been at 22% for fifteen minutes. It was at 2% at 10:45.
11:30: Still at 22%. But hey, my coffee is nicely cooled now.
11:35: Oh good, we've ticked up to 23% now.
I should go wash dishes and clean...but I'm listening to one of the lectures for class, finally, and I should pay attention to that...gaaah.
12:10: Signed in. Turned off all the privacy settings that were on by default. Now it's installing updates, with no indication of how far into the update process it is.
12:15: Okay then. Looks like I'm in. I am 100% positive I turned Cortana off, though, so what's it doing in my taskbar? Okay, found how to hide it, but "hidden" is not "off"...let's put my wallpaper back and we're probably good to go?
