Welp. WIRED isn't getting any more of my pageviews. They're pulling the same shit as Forbes wrt adblockers, to wit, holding the content hostage until I either whitelist their site on Adblock or pay for a subscription. Nope. Not doing it. At least straight-up paywalls are honest.
monksandbones: Nicolas Le Floch as played by Jérôme Robart, in a black coat and tricorne and white cravat, frowning at something (nicolas le floch all that and breton too)

Yes, this. So much this. No more WIRED for me.

I might whitelist if their ads weren't a) intrusive as all hell and b) FULL OF MALWARE.
anaraine: Casey (from Sin City) lips pulled back to bear her teeth angrily with the text: "boo hiss". ([spn] boo hiss)

Seconded.

A third in agreement on this.

Yes. Paywalls and ad-intrusions drive people away, for the most part, instead of drawing them in.

*whistles innocently*

Having NoScript enabled will often block the interstitial crap.

Huh, weird. When I enable scripts on wired.com, I get the interstitial, but when I revoke all script permissions on the page I can read the articles no problem.
untonuggan: Lily and Chance squished in a cat pile-up on top of a cat tree (buff tabby, black cat with red collar) (Default)
