things that are actually really difficult in my current brainstate: trying to read up on ethics, specifically ancient Greek ethics but also the entire history of ethical debate from then to now esp. feminist ethics, and assemble coherent thoughts on the lot of it, when nobody in power gives a shit about ethical behavior

What are you reading? I've been struggling with Plato's Republic lately.

MIT OpenCourseWare Ethics course as taught in Fall 2009, actually. It doesn't focus much on ancient Greece, but I'm thinking for this purpose I also want an overview of the history of thought on ethics. And I've got a translation of recent date of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics sitting next to me but I haven't managed to crack the cover yet.

The only "good" thing about any of this awfulness, globally/politically, is that my partner and I have been having lengthy, complicated conversations about our opinions on things, as we both grow increasingly anti-capitalist and rather more angry at the world than we had been before. Ethics, politics, and even religion, are apparently now just as frequent topics for conversation around here as what we're having for dinner. It's good but it's also... really sad.
