Hypothesis: when Maui in Moana says "I'm just an ordinary demiguy," he means he's nonbinary.
...yes, I know that's not what Disney meant. :(

And I want fanfic of him as a nonbinary demi-guy, demisexual, demigod. :)

(and I can't believe I completely missed it. Mind you, eldest pointed out something in the Hobbit that I've completely missed over multiple readings and watchings of the movies)

The author is often very loud for a dead person...

Though I also expect it's heaven? Like. Do you know the feeling when someone points out a line in something you've written and remarks on its significance, and you hadn't meant that line to have particular significance but you'll totally pretend you meant that all along?
Like, story: "[...] beige carpet [...]" reader: "The carpet color subtly highlights the theme of the protagonist's dissatisfaction with her bland life." author, to self: "...nope, the carpet's beige because the carpet's beige." author, to reader: "Absolutely!"
I mean, I find such moments incredibly gratifying, anyway.

I used to be part of a book club, and one month we were reading a book of poetry by a local poet. I didn't make that month's meeting, but I'm told that the poet got invited by the person who had picked the book, which was unfortunate, because none of the rest of the group liked it, so it was less a discussion that the poet got anything out of, and was more an exercise in tact.
