On top of the obvious things, such as a President-elect who thinks the demand side of economics might actually be at least as important as the supply side, a President-elect who thinks we need to get out of the futile war in Iraq and give our soldiers in Afghanistan enough support that their efforts cease to be futile, a President-elect who thinks health care is not something one must earn, a President-elect who actually gives a damn about what the facts show, etc etc etc, and for bonus points a President-elect who proves that one needn't be a white man to get to the White House:

Yes, there are three more states banning gay marriage, bringing the total from twenty-seven to thirty, or thirty to thirty-three, I forget, and the statement "three-fifths of the states ban gay marriage" has not grown significantly more or less accurate, and people are morons. I understand this. But given that the younger one is, the more likely one is to support gay marriage, and given that our President-elect has stated that he opposes gay marriage on religious grounds and he supports civil unions for gay couples and he is familiar with the idea of 'separation of church and state', I wouldn't be surprised if we have at least civil unions countrywide by the end of his first term. Certainly by the end of his second. So I'm not going to get too depressed over Prop 8.
