It happened to me as well. This is the explanation I got when I complained via email:

During a wave of spam today on freenode, it appears at first glance that a
networking issue has caused some automated anti-abuse tools to trigger k-lines
on a large number of gateways, multi-user hosts, and individuals.

If you are receiving this message, we are in the process of removing your ban.

I'm closing your ticket currently, there is no need to respond to this email.

We apologise for the inconvenience and are looking into the precise chain of
events that led to this to avoid it happening again in the future.
IOW: it's not your fault or anything you did.
