Because while Supernatural does something things right, they continually fail when it comes to race and gender. And respecting non-American cultures. *Continually*.
It's not rocket surgery, Show: When every black male who shows up subsequently gets killed off, you officially have Skanky Race Issues and should really look into treatment for that.
If we'd lost Bobby too, permanent-like, it wouldn't bother me nearly so much, because then it'd be 'everyone but the regulars dies', not 'everyone but the white men dies'.
Raphael's black male host is dead and replaced with a black female who, while they don't show up on the show as often, seem to have a higher survival rate.
I admit I'm extra super pissed about this one because I just love Rufus as a character, and the idea of him having been the one to save Bobby from his demonically-possessed wife and teach him how to hunt, and then they went road tripping together! *flails* They couldn't have told us that and let him live, too? It was totally an ambiguous stab wound, it could have missed the heart!* And then we could find out more about what went down in Omaha and and! even if Rufus doesn't forgive Bobby, he still totally went to bat for him to get him out of his deal with Crowley, so he still cares, and okay, I might ship Rufus/Bobby just a littlea whole lot.
*(I was still holding out hope that they had sent him to the hospital during the commercial break until the grave showed up at the end [and even then I was like, "Be Grampa Campbell's grave! Be Grampa Campbell's grave!] because denial is my friend, and I knew it sure as hell wasn't gonna be Bobby's grave.)
I don't see Rufus/Bobby, but I see where others would see it, if that makes sense.
I knew Rufus wasn't going to make it when I saw the still of the boys and Bobby standing over a grave with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue, so I got most of my pissed out of the way then. But did they have to kill Gwen too? And much as I like Bobby, can't he just die already?
