The noir movie festival is starting up this weekend. I'm going to see at least 6 movies in 12 days.
I love noir movies, because they were mostly set in the time they were filmed, and an observant viewer can pick up the details of daily life that wouldn't necessarily have been noted in history texts -- like a police detective who gets distracted by his hand-held magnet-based baseball simulation game, or the fact that you could get ballgowns with usable pockets in the 50s.
I'm already pretty far into the thicket of my most recent writing assignment. I'm starting to get a little bit of "well, is this transformative enough to really count?", but I figure that I'll get a draft down for it first and then hand off that question to the people who read and review it to see whether it fits. I like it so far myself, but that's no guarantee.
I will attempt to keep it light, but I'm also literally sitting at my keyboard rambling about whatever comes to mind.
I have a stuffed rabbit that I've had since I was a baby. Stuffed animals are the BEST and so cuddly. When I'm feeling lonely I like to clutch a stuffy naminal because the feeling of 'I want cuddles and safety' and the feeling of 'I want to give cuddles and safety' are so related they overlap.
At school, all the kinder classrooms have one or two break spaces, at least of one which is a soft space with a thick rug and some pillows or other fuzzies. Kids can take a break there when they want to and get permission or when I teacher notices they are getting upset and reminds them to go there. I was thinking that I want to try to bring in some Nice Things for the little tiny staff bathroom on our hall because it's literally a construction zone with the floor tile ripped out and the toilet paper on a wobbly shelf and everybody needs a nice space. It would be good to have more break areas, but that doesn't seem likely, so I should start small, and maybe work on the courtyard garden lunch area if I'm feeling ambitious.
I have the day off due to training-day-related scheduling shenanigans so I'm trying really hard to relax and do only what I actually *feel* like doing provided that that isn't nothing. I had bad brain weather earlier this week but I'm feeling better, but when it's cold and rainy it's easy to get sucked into my computer and forget that time is a thing that happens. I did go out for a walk, so that was good!
I saw a rainbow yesterday!!! PM me your number, if you want, and I'll text you a picture I took of it with my phone. Which I basically use as a camera and a text messenger, but I'm using it instead of avoiding it like the embodiment of plague, so that's good.
One is, she thinks. Also I am corrected on the number—after a donation to a battered women's shelter, there's under a hundred in her house. I assume she is not counting the ones that are decor (such as wallpaper) rather than cuddly...
