whydoyouneedtoknow got me to try rum for the first time, on Talk Like A Pirate Day, because it was Hermione's birthday.

At least I think that was her reasoning. (This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure.) Possibly the reasoning had more to do with "But why is all the rum gone?"

(Spoilers: I do not like rum. I do not like it, Sam I Am.)

Ha, yeah, I suppose that's possible. I have not made any particular attempt to experiment with cocktails, though.
