What [Daesh] Really Wants, compliments The Atlantic, whose journalist did a really thorough job. This is terrifying. And needs many many trigger warnings. Gist afaict is, they're the Muslim equivalent of premillennial-dispensationalist Christians, only instead of writing or reading LaHaye/Jenkins's Left Behind about killing people and bringing the end times, they're actually killing people in order to bring the end times. And they want the US to attack them because they need to be nearly wiped out in order for the last step of their apocalypse plan to happen. And they've got the initiative roll, so they can carry out attacks like in Beirut and Paris as often as they need until the US runs out of political will not to play their game. (Not that we have much of that will to start with!)

(Okay, how come I can focus enough to read that but not my classwork?)

classism! discrimination against technological late adopters!

My parents just got a phone call from the high school. Highlight: All students in grades 9-12 (read: all students) are to something something pledge to graduate, and are thus permitted to bring their cell phone to English class (all students are required to be in an English class) for purposes of signing the pledge.

My high-school-age sister hasn't got a cell phone of ANY description. Never mind a phone with Internet access!

So apparently I just watched the most recent Once Upon a Time? (My middle sister's idea.) Clearly (1) they're more messing with Disney movies than with fairy tales (which I'm sure all y'all figured out long since) (2) I need to watch from the beginning (I left off a few episodes in to season one and forget why).

I also just watched a Doctor Who and if all the episodes are that horror-riffic, no. Not happening. Not watching another one ever.
