Her yo-yo's been sitting beside her since she dropped it after deciding to stop texting him. He leans them over to take it, let out a few decimeters of cord, and give it a whirl, then bounce it off his own head.

"Oh my god Chat."

He grins.

Chat bopping himself for his own pun? Of course he would.

Also I do believe this is the first time I've seen Nathalie referred to in those exact words. Excepting a few far-flung future fics, and even then they tend to be less...direct about it.

Nathalie really is the active maternal presence in Adrien's life right now. He does not have to like this in order to acknowledge the truth of it. And if he used any more accurate terms—because strictly speaking she really is only Adrien's father's executive assistant; Adrien suspects they're fucking, but as you might imagine, he doesn't want to think too hard about the truth of that—well, "my father and his assistant" or "my father and Nathalie" might be a bit more of an identity giveaway (esp since Ladybug does in fact know things about Adrien's life, and Adrien knows she knows) than "my father and stepmom".

That makes a lot of sense. I admittedly kind of forgot that the base state of canon has them not knowing each others' identities yet. I blame reading about twenty too many reveal fics this week.

Frankly that's an excellent cover story and good summation of the de facto state of affairs. Good job on the secret-keeping, Adrien!
