Hey, shiny, 6x08 passes Bechdel! I was beginning to think not a single S6 episode did, but 6x08 has Mandy and another mother and her daughter all talking, and we actually hear some of the conversation. Okay, the bit we hear goes "See you later" and "Bye", but it's a Bechdel-passing conversation!

...how pathetically low my expectations are.

It's SPN. Sometimes I'm embarrassed that I like the show because of how I have to turn off a lot of my critical analysis functions to not notice how few women or black people are in it.

Otoh, it generally does an *excellent* job of making the characters deal with their stupid mistakes. I hate it when the hero gets a pass for doing something stupid, unethical, illegal, or Just Plain Wrong, and Supernatural rarely does that. Mainly because letting the characters dig their own holes seems to be how they come up with the seasonal arcs on SPN.

Yeah, I read Children of the Wanderers -- Chuck as Elijah is brilliant, and *so* much less skanky than Chuck as god.

I do love the racebending fics. Some of them are spectacular, some are just hilarious (the comics where the boys are Indian are hilarious).

Ugh, no, Chuck was a stand-in for Kripke. How can Kripke as god be inspired?

...Sorry, I just. D:

The first time we saw him I was into him but as it kept going and going... just no.

Although I did recently watch the con episode and think it was hilarious as opposed to before when the very idea deeply bothered me....
