My sister's valedictorian this year. My brother was valedictorian a couple years ago. I was lucky to make the top quarter of the class. Inferiority complex, I HAS IT.

No need to feel inferior! Public schools still don't fully reflect the variety of ways people learn and are motivated to learn, and even if they did you don't have to be anywhere near the top to be a worthwhile person. Anyone who says different is a jackass and a poopoohead.

I was one of three National Merit Finalists from my high school and none of us were valedictorian; I know for a fact that two of us flunked out of freshman year of college. Of all the failings of the US educational system, one of them is: it doesn't work for the statistical outliers. Those of us who are measurably really smart are nonetheless poorly served by US education.
