Sekrit message to neotoma: Close? Who you kiddin'? I'm not going to the Christmas party some family friends are throwing Friday evening because I'd have to drive myself and they live an hour north and I have never driven more than half an hour at a stretch before. Two hours west over a bigass bridge ain't happening without bribery though a day away from family and mostly spent in the company of friendly folks might be enough bribe on its own.

You should consider coming to Con.txt, if nothing else... although it would probably strain your budget to the snapping point right now.

Otoh, there are a lot of fannish things coming up, and if you wanted a day or two away from home, it could be arranged -- there are lot of fen in DC, Baltimore, and even Annapolis.

Hundred dollars and hotel and gas money? Yeeeah that's probably not happening.

Though they say they're looking for jewelry dealers...

This is something I will have to think about.

ETA: I may have just checked hotel rates for the con. If I sell two (or better, three) Mary Campbell bracelets between now and the con, and if the hotel price doesn't go up, and if no emergencies happen, I can afford to go. And if I go as a dealer, and I may have just emailed them to ask about being a dealer, the con might pay for itself.

I should go to at least one of synecdochic's stitch-n-bitches between now and then. Y'know. Just to get used to two-hour drives. :)

Your welcome to sleep on my couch (it's a futon w innerspring mattress) if you want -- I live three miles from the venue. If not, most people bunch up for rooms, which can cut the cost to 1/4 of list price.

Just be warned -- being a dealer means missing a lot of the con, though you'll definitely be able to go to the dance party and vidshow, because those are nighttime events.

You should definitely go to synecdochic's gatherings. She's nifty -- and I could meet you there, given enough time to arrange a ride up to Baltimore.
