I had my taxes done at H&R Block today, and one of the questions was whether or not I was in a domestic partnership. The woman promptly apologized for asking me the question, and muttered something about it offending people but they were required to ask. Unfortunately, in retrospect, I didn't go into how offended I was by the apology.
