what the hell, nothing else to do today (from

In honor of All Hallow's Eve, I'm inviting trick-or-treaters to my 'door.' Comment "trick-or-treat" to this post and...well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I'm glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.).

Eh. Transcription, since I'm at computer now anyway.
1 c butter or margarine
1 c sugar
unspecified quantity saltine crackers
1 6 oz bag chocolate chips
Place butter and sugar into a medium sized pot. Bring butter and sugar to a boil and boil one minute.
Lay saltine crackers in single layer on lightly greased cookie sheet covering bottom completely. Pour sugar mixture over crackers and bake in preheated oven at 400 deg F for 5 minutes. Take out of oven and pour one bag of chocolate chips over and quickly spread melting chocolate over entire surface of crackers. Put in fridge/freezer and chill until set. When set, remove from pan and break into desired size pieces and serve.
Variation: Try any variety of chips on the cracker candy. For instance, semi-sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, mint chocolate, peanut butter, or maybe even butterscotch. Then when you have finished spreading out the melting chocolate you may want to sprinkle some fancy sugar or decorations on it just for fun.
And it's from Just 24 Days to Christmas by MyLinda Butterworth, ISBN 1-890905-10-0. But it is not exactly a December-specific treat.
