Perfectly fine in this area of Sandy's path. Wet beach towels by the basement doorstep, and we think the storm blew out the pilot light for our heater—there was a natural gas buildup, anyway, and the gas company website says we handled it wrong but I don't think we would have evacuated the house midstorm anyway and the worst thing that actually happened was I was breathing it for however many hours and I am suffering no ill effect—but that's it here.

Glad you all are OK. The pilot light is SCARY but it's all OK now?

I'm cleaning our basement towels now. And the scenes from NY and NJ are incredible.

It's all okay now, yes. Dad turned off the gas intake last night, and when he turned it back on this morning the gas smell never came back.
