okay wtf just happened on Supernatural. I'm reading y'all's reaction posts without having seen any episodes since Charlie/Dorothy way early season and I have no idea wtf just happened. SPOIL ME.

I've only seen bits and pieces of this season and the last half of the season finale so I'm probably missing something.

Basically, Metatron kills Dean. Sam brings his body back to wherever they're staying and calls on Crowley. However, Crowley is already there talking to a dead Dean about how he didn't tell Dean all the stories about Cain and the Mark of Cain and he can feel Sam summoning him. Crowley puts the First Blade in Dean's hand, while talking about how Cain at one point accepted his own death but the Blade wouldn't let him go.

Dean's eyes open and they are demon black. Roll credits.
