cheers to anyone coming out on national coming out day today. well done you.
Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bowed down to the mighty
But don't run and stop holding your tongue
When I told my parents I'm bisexual, Dad said he'd believe it when he saw it. Mom said nothing at all.
Say what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly, I want to see you be brave
I need this roof over my head for a few more months. Long enough to get out of debt to my parents, long enough to save for my share of first and last month's rent of a place—not all my own, because the plan is to share expenses and living space with my sister and her guy, but enough my own.
And since your your history of silence
Won't do you any good. Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don't you tell them the truth?
I don't know what will happen if I remind my mother I'm queer. I don't know what will happen if either parent finds out I'm genderqueer.
Show me how big your brave is, Sara Bareilles says, in a song explicitly about coming out LGBT despite the consequences.
My brave is very small.
