Aug. 3rd, 2019 10:43 pmI think one of the songs we heard at Music Under The Trees (sung by Cade Tinney but I dunno if she's who wrote it) is called "Wrong Together"? IS IT ON BANDCAMP I NEED IT. Princesses and huntresses and dragons!
…actually is Cade Tinney on Bandcamp generally because everything she did was beautiful. Except the kazoo part of—I'm guessing the song's called "Ophelia"? Shakespearean filk of Simon and Garfunkel, anyway—which was just hilarious.
Vixy & Tony, "Furies". Mad Max: Fury Road, but also the current state of US politics. "Who told you there's only three? Remember me!" —hey look last year's version is on YouTube!
So all Ménage à Trio's pieces are improv, and many of them are based on prompts from the audience. Someone said "Schrodinger's octopus", someone else said something like "the death of the immortal jellyfish queen", and when
azurelunatic said "Unseelie toddler loose in the farmers' market", Betsy Tinney's face was a sight.

Mar. 27th, 2017 02:25 pmKelliana's "Wild Maiden" is best song, I'm just saying.
We dance the dance of the Wild Wild Maiden
We dance so wild and free
We dance in the light of the sun and the moon
And the earth and the sky and the sea
I am however annoyed that it's too high energy for me in my current physical condition to actually dance to.

The band's called The Warning. They're three sisters from Mexico, Alejandra, Paulina, and Daniela, ages nine, twelve, and fourteen. And they are rocking the hell out of every song they've covered that I've listened to so far. Metallica. AC/DC. Lady Gaga. Katy Perry. Guns N' Roses liked their cover enough to encourage Guns N' Roses fans to donate to The Warning's crowdfunding campaign to send the girls to Berklee College of Music. They're not just a cover band, either, that videos page has several original songs too.
And they've got an EP coming out on iTunes on Tuesday!

Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bowed down to the mighty
But don't run and stop holding your tongue
When I told my parents I'm bisexual, Dad said he'd believe it when he saw it. Mom said nothing at all.
Say what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly, I want to see you be brave
I need this roof over my head for a few more months. Long enough to get out of debt to my parents, long enough to save for my share of first and last month's rent of a place—not all my own, because the plan is to share expenses and living space with my sister and her guy, but enough my own.
And since your your history of silence
Won't do you any good. Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don't you tell them the truth?
I don't know what will happen if I remind my mother I'm queer. I don't know what will happen if either parent finds out I'm genderqueer.
Show me how big your brave is, Sara Bareilles says, in a song explicitly about coming out LGBT despite the consequences.
My brave is very small.
