I thought the layout was intentional. REALLY. as for the angled depth, that would look utterly AWESOME if using two layers of metal, but it's so shallow it doesn't seem to add texture, so I'd call it interesting rather than "HAVE MAH MONEY!"

Deliberately angling depth of impressions and putting letters in an arc could be interesting, too. Play with it, and please, please, keep photo records of your efforts. It'll pay off fast!
