dear self, sleep dep is not going to help you. it is three. you have a place to be at eleven-thirty. before leaving for the place you have to be awake and fed. now would be a really good time to go to bed. two hours ago would be better.
(the reasons I did not go to bed two hours ago are twofold. first, the Spanish placement test. which says SPAN 113, which cannot possibly be right. and second, my 3tb external hard drive is making ominous noises and being really ridiculously warm for something that is not actively transferring data. well, now it is actively transferring data, because I am copying its contents to the 1tb external, bar a whole bunch of Supernatural Blu-ray rips—re the "Raise Hell" vid, I'd forgot I ripped these and they weren't in a useful-for-vidding format anyway, and now I have deleted them because it's probably easier to rerip in the right format than to convert mkv to mp4—that wouldn't have fit on the 1tb. which is going to be packed nearly to capacity anyhow. but I really do need to go to bed now, I just dunwanna.)

I am informed I may ask the SPAN 112 instructor to enroll in their class.
I'm so fucked. Is it too late to sign up for German?
(I don't actually want to study German--or rather, it's behind Spanish, Irish, Japanese, Mandarin, and ASL on the priority list--but of those six only Spanish, ASL, and German will get me the two-year language requirement for my BA, and the whole reason I'm fussing with Spanish right now is because I don't think, and the languages academic advisor agrees with me, that ASL will be any too good for my hands, what with the fucking carpal tunnel.)
