* It's raining, the soft soothing sort of rain.
* Birdsong.
* It's almost quiet in my head right now. Just sitting here listening to the rain and the birdsong.

But I have things to do. To wit:

* read one of the books I brought to parents'

And so far today I have accomplished:

* eat breakfast
* fold last batch of laundry
* start laundry 1 in washer
* figure out how to check balance on laundry card and reload same if necessary
* put away all laundry washed thus far
* eat second breakfast
* chill for 15 min
* email property manager about location of add-money-to-laundry-card machine or alternate means of reloading card
* start laundry 2 in washer
* eat lunch
* empty dishwasher
* start bread machine
* plan some meals (namely: make lots of Spanish rice with food parents bought, steal significant quantity of leftovers to eat till gone)
* start laundry 3 in washer and 2 in dryer
* ask a couple important questions about a thing (and got a positive response to one of the questions, even!)
* start laundry 3 in dryer
* read part of The Greek Way of Death by Robert Garland
* post a talky post to alexkharites
* cook Spanish rice
* start laundry 1 in dryer
* package bread and Spanish rice for transport home / storage at parents'
* fill out Five Wishes Online
