whydoyouneedtoknow got me to try rum for the first time, on Talk Like A Pirate Day, because it was Hermione's birthday.

At least I think that was her reasoning. (This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure.) Possibly the reasoning had more to do with "But why is all the rum gone?"

(Spoilers: I do not like rum. I do not like it, Sam I Am.)

Ha, yeah, I suppose that's possible. I have not made any particular attempt to experiment with cocktails, though.

Rum by itself is not something I would enjoy drinking. Rum mixed with other things has a much better possibility of being enjoyable.

Then (imo) you haven't tasted GOOD rum. I have a bottle of Brugal XV Ron Reserva that I won on a cruise with my sister, and I drink it... about a capful at a time, and just occasionally.

That is entirely possible. I do not hang around people who drink good rum, regrettably.

What a great reason! (Back in the days of Yahoo Groups, we imbibed in 'chocolate kahlua shakes', though sadly virtual and containing no actual alcohol. *g*)

Depends on the rum for me. White rum is terrible. Dark rum can be quite nice.
