math help slash research help

1) Between "Gigantitan", Heroes' Day, "Papa-Garou", "Miraculer", and whatever else it's reasonable to suppose happened offscreen: how many hours has August been Ladybug and Chat Noir's responsibility, not his mother's? (This comic by [tumblr.com profile] adobsonartworks is absolutely the correct visual.)

2) How much would August's mother expect to pay a babysitter for August? How much does Nadja Chamack pay Marinette to babysit Manon?

3) In order to give everyone at the local fire house a delicious treat from the boulangerie-pâtisserie (assuming everyone at the fire house can eat something from the boulangerie, anyway, which I know is not a safe assumption), how big a purchase are we talking? In terms of all of (a) how many items purchased, (b) what size vehicle is necessary to get the whole purchase to the fire house, and (c) euros spent.

4) How much cash is it reasonable to suppose Lila Rossi ordinarily carries?

5) If (4) is smaller than (3c), then what do (3a) and (3b) become if we set (3c) equal to (4)?

Well, 3+4+5=Me grinning.

Gigantitan didn't seem like it lasted all that long, so I'd say...an hour? There was a little implied off screen, but Ladybug didn't have to run for reinforcements or anything. I'll be generous and assume maybe two for Papa-Garou - battle, plus getting August home afterwards. Heroes' Day was a big all-afternoon thing, or at least it felt like it, so let's say four there. And Miraculer...I admit to skimming the beginning, but the Sentimonster didn't seem to absolve August's mother of childcare, it looked like it was just a separate manifestation of 'WANT CANDY'. Ballpark, 7-ish hours.

Going rate for babysitting duties in France seems to be 7-8 euros an hour, from some cursory research - though I don't live there and didn't do a ton. I think it might be less if the kid isn't expected to run around much - keeping Manon in check seems like a higher-risk job than keeping August in check, akumatization frequency aside. So...August's mother probably owes the heroes a decent chunk now.

It looks like Paris has 81 fire stations, with 8550 personnel between them. So that'd average 105 personnel per station as a strict mean, which at least gives a ballpark. For price per person, after trying to find a decent menu photo on TripAdvisor and failing, I eventually found a place offering mini-cakes at 6 per 10 euros. So one might be able to get away with a tiny delicious treat for everyone for 180 euros. ...plus tax. And delivery.

I'm going to guess Lila carries less than that, as I don't think the average teenager totes 200 euros around. 25-50 seems more likely for pocket cash. That's...unlikely to feed everyone something fancy, but 3a might become 'a macaron apiece' or something. Which, mercifully, has the benefit of being more portable.

Ominous math is fun.

2. Between 7 and 10 euros an hour, depending on the child's age
3. depending on what they buy, and if they stay on the croissants/pains au chocolat end of the spectrum, between 1 and 2 euros per item. (depending on how big a gesture they'd want, they can also go and buy chouquettes, which are usually around 2€ for ten).
4. a teenager would usually carry around 20€ in cash. However, they might probably also carry a debit card (depending on their level of affluence, but if they live in the center of Paris, them having one is almost certain).

Debit cards do need a PIN to work, unless we're talking amounts less than 30€ (since 2017, or 2018, it was 20€ from about 2015, when contactless payment was introduced) - and even then you get asked your PIN once every 5 or 6 payments.

Idea that might work, if they need around 100€ to buy pastries - depending on how much babysitting your character does, and how organized they are in their life, it would be believable for them to simply stick the babysitting money in their wallet and carry it around to use when needed.
(I mean, the other options are to deposit it in the bank, which I haven't known any teenagers to do, or to keep it at home, which is just as believable are carrying it around - if they're not likely to get mugged.)
