*idly does math*
I've posted 31 Miraculous Ladybug stories of at least 300 words.
Identity reveal status between Ladybug and Chat Noir:
Love square ships sailing:
…a lot of what I read is Marichat, but apparently I don't write it nearly as often? I am not, however, surprised to discover the math says I 💖 identity reveals and Ladynoir…
also: I have posted 368K words to AO3 since 2009. 120K of that is ML since July 2018!
Identity reveal status between Ladybug and Chat Noir:
- Pre-reveal: 3
- Reveal during: 20
- Post-reveal: 6
- Not that simple:
- "city of lights, city of heroes" is definitely post–Chat Noir reveal, and definitely does not reveal Ladybug during; it is not clear to the author whether Ladybug reveals herself to Chat Noir before, after, or at all
- swallow my doubt, turn it inside out (beautiful oblivion) has wacky hijinx with memory and verb tense and I am not prepared to categorize it here at all
Love square ships sailing:
- Ladynoir: 15
- Ladrien: 4
- Adrienette: 10
- Marichat: 1
- Not that relevant: 2
- Counted more than once above: 12
- Not that simple:
- Not counting ones like "traduttori, traditori" that hit on all four sides pre-reveal
- If the reveal happens before or during the fic and it's tagged with a slash not an ampersand, tally one up for post-reveal dynamic
- "ménage à, uh, quatre? this isn't adding up…" is premised on hypothetical threesomes, one Adrien/Marinette/Chat Noir, one Ladybug/Adrien/Marinette
- I am not prepared to categorize swallow my doubt, turn it inside out (beautiful oblivion) here either

I was going to ask how this is a gift, it comes with a price ranked on the reveal, but then I remembered the bit with Ladybug's phone contact to 'Tiger'.
I'd kind of picked up the love-of-reveals bit, in large part because...well, you have more than a few stories where the two of them are hitting a stress point over the everything, and frankly some secrets need to give way. thirsty in the desert with a bagful of gold kind of embodies that most directly, but it's a bit of an undercurrent. Or maybe I'm overthinking.
Am I overthinking?

…I was today years old when I noticed this

I mean, it's not universal? I still love the sheer shenanigans in catch a secret that could set you free, which is less that theme and more 'Adrien you dolt you had one job, start running kitty'. But yeah, it shows up...a few times.
It kind of ties in with the Ladynoir thing, I guess? Sort of like coffee and chocolate, the breaking point of stress gives it more appeal or something.

I'm curious, what distinction does slash vs ampersand signify? I'm not acquainted with the relevant conventions.
