how destined and epic and/or tragic is their relationship? if it's not terribly it's really not going to be too on the nose.

because, yeah, unless the parallels are beat you over the head obvious, it'll go over most people's heads as a reference. (actually even if they ARE obvious, it'll likely go over some people's heads anyway. *wry*)
