Wait. Usagi's fourteen. Rei's about fourteen. Mamoru's in college, according to the original anime (episode wherein Rei decides she is totally going on a date with Mamoru). Senior high school per Crystal. There is no way this maths to be un-creepy. Even if we assume Mamoru in Crystal is as young as it's possible to be in senior high in Japan, which is what, sixteen?, it doesn't math for a year or so.

Wow, generational difference, I guess; I don't find 14/16 creepy at all. In fact 2 years sounds like a pretty normal age range to me.

Two years is a perfectly fine age difference when the younger of the pair is older than fourteen.

Most of the crowd I knew in school started dating in sixth grade or so, which means eleven to twelve.

Don't get me wrong, I really don't think Usagi is nearly mature enough for dating, but it's not the difference in age that bothers me, it's that she's about as emotionally mature as an eight-year-old.

And I mean, especially early on, it's not as though Mamoru has clue one where he's disappearing to at night since he's basically being controlled by their bond.
