May. 24th, 2009 01:52 amApparently I'm on a clone!Jack kick. I've found a bunch of fics I've saved for rereading at some future date, but there's really precious little that's as good as the synegates compendium. There is, however, a trio of fics I'd like to rec: Monkey Screaming and its sequels Mirror Image and Silk and Chains. Monkey Screaming is about Jon O'Neill's Abandonment Issues, and its concluding lines are where the fun really begins:
Carter shrugged," We're willing to battle the Goa'uld with you, Sir. We have died with you. Highschool should be a snap."
Jon glared at her," Carter..."
She looked him in the eye.
"We don't leave our people behind, Jack."
(Huh. Punctuation's borked. Did not notice that while reading the fic. Which means it must be a really good fic.)
And of course high school is not a snap, andSam Alex especially is fucked over by the differences, but they're still SG-1. (Creeps out their ex-Special Forces teacher no end.) Teal'c Will joins the cheerleading squad and Alex isn't quite dared into trying out for quarterback. Grand fun. And then we get to story three, and when SG-1 is bound and determined to accomplish something, they fucking accomplish it, and it is a glory to watch. And then at the end there is sex.
Daniel and Will are somewhat neglected in all this, but that (and the aforementioned typographical issues I blew right past) and a bit of confusion on names at the start of story two (but I just told you who's who) are the only flaws I noted.
