Today's the eleventh of September. I don't want to remember the three thousand who died ten years ago today; my neglecting to remember them won't do any harm.

I want to remember the fourteen hundred women who die every day of pregnancy- and childbirth-related issues. Let me repeat that. Every two days and change, the same number of women die of attempting to reproduce than the number of people who died thanks to Al Qaeda on 9/11.

I want to remember the nearly four thousand children who die every day of water-related diseases. Let me repeat that. More children die every day of not having clean water than the number of people who died thanks to Al Qaeda on 9/11.

I want to remember the more than thirteen thousand children under five who die every day of undernutrition. Let me repeat that. Four and a half times as many children under five die every day of not having enough to eat than the number of people who died thanks to Al Qaeda on 9/11.

9/11 was a tragedy. No question about that. But let's have some fucking perspective, people.
