Depending on timing of my move-out vis-à-vis Easter 2015, Christmas 2014 may be the last time my atheist ass is required to attend Mass!
I swore a couple years ago (after an Easter Mass that was very much "preach against the queer and pro-choice heathens") I would never set foot in a Catholic church again, you see. But then I decided it wasn't worth the fight with my mother, who has decreed that everyone living under her roof attends, at a bare minimum, Christmas and Easter Mass. But next Easter I may not be living under her roof! Next Christmas I definitely should not be living under her roof! This Christmas might actually be the last time!
Which might just be the thought to keep me cheerful through this Christmas Mass. Plan is I roll out of work four-thirty Christmas Eve after working a full shift (observe that on most weekdays I get to work at four, and my typical sleep schedule is set accordingly) and straight into five o'clock Mass. This is not a recipe for cheer regardless of one's attitudes about Catholicism, you know?
