omg the upstairs smells so good right now. Mom is making her mom's family recipe of Italian spaghetti and meatballs* and ooooh tastynoms but we don't get to have any till tomorrow night because you don't eat this stuff the day you make it, what sort of heathen are you, it tastes so much better on day two.

I helped roll the meatballs. Mom keeps saying we all ought to learn this recipe, and...connections to family, connections to family history. I really do need to learn how to make this. (And my gluten-free sisters need to figure out how to adapt it for GFness—the toasted crumbled bread is easily enough replaced with toasted crumbled GF bread, but the recipe includes however many shakes of Accent. Accent is straight-up monosodium glutamate, and it doesn't taste right without the MSG, we tried that once.) I don't even know what I want to put next to the "but" when I say I would learn to make this but, or next to the "because" when I say I don't want to learn to make this because.

* The recipe card in Grandma D's handwriting just says "Italian Spaghetti". But Mom says she had to amend the recipe name at some point when I was tiny because she got tired of Dad asking if there would be meatballs when Mom said dinner would be Italian spaghetti. And Dad says I take things too literally!

I have REESE'S the day is now 100% better. It kinda sucked earlier, because ohai Facebook friend-of-friend being a jackass on our mutual friend's status re the Read Fewer White Men challenge.

Looking at my reading challenge log, I think I must have forgot to update a few times. I am pretty sure that I have fairly recently read two books on the Delphic Maxims and I am pretty sure I read the collected poetry of Chinua Achebe. But the poetry does not appear on the spreadsheet, and neither does the second Delphic Maxims book. Which makes me wonder what else I've read and forgotten to note!

Also I need to read more by people of color, more by openly queer/trans people, and more by disabled people. None of those columns are as high as 20% marginalized voices. I'm doing okay on female people, over 80%, but admittedly half of the female-authored books I've read this year are by Mercedes Lackey.

I need to have tarot cards, and in fact do have tarot cards, just not anywhere to lay out a ten-card spread! Oops. I will figure out something. (Will probably involve the dining room table and my laptop.)

Registration for summer term starts sometime tomorrow.

I have got to essay for that scholarship application.

Wow, that was many tarot cards. And I still have five Celtic Crosses and two past-present-future spreads to do. (Tomorrow. After I random.org for who gets five of those seven readings.) The draw is still open until sometime Sunday.

*pulls one for me* Eight of Cups, reversed. SUBTLE, deck. Real subtle. I am not actually actively overwhelmed by things? But I also took off work like eleven hours this week and didn't do the overtime today that I signed up for, and I'm not in school this term, and I can still feel the overwhelmingness of everything pushing at me. I don't know how I managed full-time work and full-time school and also accomplishing other things for several terms running, I really don't. (And yet I am planning to go back to exactly that in six months! Eh, well, we'll see how the summer term goes, I suppose...)
